Initial Brainstorm

We decided to use the song Gecko (Overdrive). Our next task was to figure out what features are commonly seen in a music video for a song of the dance genre. Then we had to decide the elements we would want to experiment with. We also found some music videos that we could draw some inspiration from. From this we also developed locations we wanted to film in and create the room for research into new locations.

We then decided to create a moodboard of what we thought house/dance music was. We used images from google and put the breakdown of what the subsection deep house on the mood board.

Initial Thoughts of Song

Initially we decided as a group to use the song 'Afterglow' by Wilkinson and explore different lighting techniques in the song. However, as group when listening to the song we realised that there wasn't enough lyrics with which we could create visuals. We then researched into the genre of dance and house music and eventually, explored the subsection of house, 'deephouse'. Deep house is currently very popular in the charts and finally we agreed the song 'Gecko (Overdrive)' by Oliver Helden featuring Becky Hill.

Once deciding on our song we conducted research into songs of a similar genre currently in the charts and noted what conventions they followed. We found most of them experimented with colour, lighting and displayed a clear star image. Star image was presented mostly through costume, this laid out a foundation of ideas we could use and build upon when constructing our music video.
