Music Video Ideas

This is a snippet from Iggy Azalea's music video for her single 'Bounce'. During our research into music videos I stumbled across this video and thought this would be a good effect to include in our music video.

I set about trying to achieve a similar effect to this; and I carried this out in After Effects. I experimented with layers, positions and opacity levels and achieved this. It's not exact to what is seen is the video for 'Bounce' but it's a start. I will continue to experiment until I reach the desired effect.

Dance Routine

Today we had our first dance rehearsal, however we've now made some changes to the dancers. Unfortunately two of our dancers had to drop out due to other commitments. Instead of replacing them, as a group we decided it would be better to just use two back up dancers.

With the dance routine we wanted to incorporate tribal and urban elements, as the dance moves associated with these cultures act as good visuals for 'Gecko (Overdrive)'. The video below is of the dance rehearsal.

The dancers now are Melanie and Daisy.

Meeting

In this meeting we carried on our editing. We all have designated verses that we have to have edited by the end of the week as we will put each of our sequences together to see how we are progressing with our music video.

First Verse Sequence

Today I completed our first edit of the first verse and opening of the chorus. I used clips from Brick Lane, Mile End, Leake Street and the Drama Studio. I contrasted the shots by costume, close up, mid shot and then mirrored the graffiti between the shots. This will then be exported after to the collective prem pro project of our music video. Moreover, it will be uploaded onto youtube to showcase the sequence.

Footage from 4th Shoot

This is a clip from our fourth shoot at Mile End where Gabi was singing at a skate park. We thought the skate park offered an 'urban' feel to the music video; this is further amplified by housing estate in the background. There is a continuity with blue and black for the outfits, as in this shoot Gabi wore a black turtleneck, and in a previous shoot she wore a black turtleneck crop top. In this shoot she wore denim jeans and in an earlier shoot she wore a denim jacket.

Mile End Shoot Photos

Here are some of the pictures taken from the shoot yesterday of Gabi, ready for the digipak and website promotion. She wore a leather jacket, black turtleneck, blue levi jeans and black boots. These pictures are taken in and around the tunnel at Mile End Skate Park.

Mile End Shoot/Shooting Schedule

On Sunday 25th January we will be shooting at Mile End Skate Park. We will shoot Gabi singing and people skateboarding in the background. We have decided to use this costume as it mirrors our genre and also with the current weather, we have decided to add the leather jacket. Furthermore, we will take pictures of Gabi for future media use.
We have decided to shoot at this location as it adds continuity from previous locations. We were influenced by Olly Murs ft Rizzle Kicks 'Heart skips a beat' who shot their music video in this skate park. It is different from previous shoots at it allows us to experiment with different camera angles of Gabi but also to film the skaters.

Risk Assesment (Brick Lane)

Pictures from shoot 3

These are just a few images we took during our shoot in Shoreditch. We felt that this particular shoot had a strong star image of Gabi with her costume. She wore a adidas bomber jacket along with a dungrees, tights and adidas trainers. During the shoot we put her hair up to contrast from previous shots. We kept the continuity of the denim however.

Footage From 3rd Shoot

During this shoot we filmed in Shoreditch, Brick Lane where we filmed Gabi in front of the famous street art. We filmed her sitting down while singing to contrast with previous shoots. We felt that the costume and make-up not only matched the area but also the genre of music.
