Footage From 2nd Shoot

For this shoot we were at Leake Street in Waterloo. We filmed Gabi up against a graffiti covered wall and also walking up and down the tunnel. We thought it would be a good location given our genre of our song. The costume and make-up matched the location, it presented an urban feel but remained subtle against the graffiti so it wasn't overwhelming for the user.

Photos From Shoot Two

Our second shoot was at leak street, whilst we was filming I took some shots of Gabi (our artist) to use for the album art. This allows us to have and use photos from the actual music video.

In this shoot we had the artist wear a Black Crop Top, Black Skirt, Black Fishnet Tights, Doc Martins and a Oversized Jean Jacket. We made Gabi wear this as we wanted to present an urban look to match the location. We felt that black would contrast against the graffiti wall, this will allow Gabi to stand out and not blend in to the array of colours in the background. This also means that the colours of the graffiti will remain prominent in the background.

Shoot 3/ Shooting Schdule

Meeting

In this meeting we decided when our next shoot would be and decided what we next wanted to film, we found it hard to decided whether we wanted to film in Leake street or in the skate park but ended up deciding that it would be best to film at Leake street as the dance routine wasn't ready yet for us to film. We struggled in finding a time that would be suitable for us all to do as we have lessons during the morning and we would have to go to Leake street quite early for it to be empty enough for us to film. We decided that we couldn't do saturday as some of us have saturday jobs and we decided that the best time for us to film would be Wednesday the 17th of December.

Footage From 1st Shoot

This is a short snippet of the footage from our first shoot. In this shot we experimented with powder paint and contrasted this to the dark background in the drama studio. We used the lighting to make a clear distinction between the two. Furthermore, we also produced extreme close up shots of the eyes and mouth which we will edit and further develop in future.

Meeting

In today's lesson we looked through the footage from our first shoot and exported the footage onto computer. We we're really happy with the shoot, we got all the footage we wanted and even tried out other shots that we weren't originally going to have.
We also thought we worked really well together, we've all bonded and become really close and we're looking forward to future filming session.

First shooting of music video (03/12/14)

Today we used the influence of the HoliFestival when shooting.
We used a variety of equipment:
Camera, Tripod, Lighting and powder paint to create the colour fusion. Furthermore, we used the drama studio as our location as the black background created a clear contrast to the colour of the power paint.

Meeting

In today's lesson we decided we were going to have our first shoot on the 3rd of December. We also agreed on what scene to film and we blogged the shooting schedule, risk assessment and the inspirations for our shoot.
Our group thought it would be best to film the scene in the drama hut first as we were certain we'd have access to it. We also emailed Oliver Heldens general manager to discuss the copyright issues of using the song Gecko; we anxiously wait for a response.

Influence For Shoot (03/12/14)

We decided to explore the lyric "explode" with the idea of explosion of colour. The images below explore the explosion of colour through powderpaint. 'Holi Festival of Colour' is a festival where powder paint is thrown throughout the performance to create an infusion of colour. We adapted this by putting powder paint on the performers face. This is visually stunning and also matches our genre of dance/house.

For this shoot we wanted a slick back hair scene, we thought that this would be a very simple hair style to do which would juxtapose with the powder paint all over her face. We were inspired by the Demi Lovato video Heart Attack.

Animatic

This is the animatic for our music video. This provides a brief idea of what our music video is going to look like in terms of the type of shots and effects we will use as well as the order in which they'll appear.

Target Audience/ Audience Profile

We believe our target audience is between the ages of 15-25. Even though there is 10 year gap within this range we feel that the song Gecko fits into this category. For example, 15 year olds will enjoy this as a dance track and summer anthem. However, 19 years will enjoy this song at university. There will of course be some younger and old then our target audience that will enjoy this song. Furthermore, we will take into count that our demographic may be younger then our target audience and therefore, we won't promote drugs or alcohol. The sexual connotations in the lyrics of the song will be toned down in the visuals. However, we will use minimal voyeurism in our visuals; Toby will be topless in one of the shots. As the track has an urban and dance vibe from a London influence, it is most likely that people from the London area will have the largest demographic.

Psychographics

This song will mostly appeal to those who follow the mainstream psychographic. We will follow the conventions of mainstream fashion and star image. The song is in the Top 100 Download Charts and therefore, falls under the category of mainstream music. Moreover, we also use conventions of mainstream visuals in our piece due to our influences, making it appeal to a mainstream psychographic.
